Mawma, Myeloma, and Me

Today is the first day of the rest of my life!

Today I took a step forward. Today I chose to begin something new. Today I chose to believe in me and my future.

Things have looked drastically different over the past 3 years. 2022 was a year of turning points. Early in the year I was diagnosed with a rare blood cancer, Multiple Myeloma. It changed everything. It has touched everyone in our family in the most dramatic of ways. But for me, I lost myself with that singular diagnosis.

Over these past 3 years my main goal has been to stay alive. Now that I am in remission and beginning to gain some of my strength back, its time to look forward to the future. I’m no longer in survival mode. I can start to reimagine what my new life is going to become.

I have been reading and exploring some jobs for me to be able to stay at home, instead of exposing myself to all kinds of illnesses with my compromised immune system. I am keeping my youngest granddaughter during the day to remove the disruption of daycare germs from our system. Today I buckled down and we started a blog. I hope to have funny anecdotes from my time spent with the grandbabies. I enjoy new recipes to feed my family. I’m currently baking up sourdough bread and planting a garden to clean up our food supply.

Ultimately I am going to be pouring all of myself into this blog to make it work. Ill explain the background on how I ended up here and what I see for the future moving forward. Please feel free to ask ALL the questions so I have some guidance in which why to move forward and what interests people. And thank you for visiting my blog. I hope you continue to return.

Beyond that I just want to share hope with others who may be essentially starting their life over after a cancer diagnosis as well. Looking forward to meeting you all along the way!
